About IARI

The Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) is the nation's leading institute for agricultural research, education, and extension. Founded in 1905, it has played a pivotal role in India's Green Revolution and continues to drive agricultural innovation.

Located in the heart of New Delhi on the historic Pusa Campus, IARI serves as the flagship institution of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). Our mission is to advance agricultural science through cutting-edge research, develop high-yielding and climate-resilient crop varieties, and disseminate knowledge to farmers across the country.

The institute boasts a sprawling campus of over 500 hectares, housing state-of-the-art laboratories, experimental farms, a vast library, and student hostels. Our faculty comprises over 300 renowned scientists and academicians dedicated to solving the most pressing challenges in agriculture.

Our Legacy

IARI developed the world-famous high-yielding wheat varieties that transformed India from a food-deficient nation to a food-surplus country. Our scientists have been honored with numerous national and international awards, including the Borlaug Award and the World Food Prize.
